SECOND-PLACED Leverington go into tomorrow's key league match with Bircham on a high after a fine bowling and fielding performance earned them a good win at Springwood.

Bircham are third and will be looking to one of their two losses this season.

If Leverington win they will have a great chance of winning the West Norfolk Division Two for the first time since 1986.

Leverington's batsmen all got starts with Shaun Sleight (15), Glyn Wilson (16), Damien Allen (17) and Paul Rockliffe (18) all clocking up runs, but could not go on and make any significant scores until Dominic Mills came in and hit a rapid 32 with some big blows.

Leverington were bowled out for 133 and were up against it.

Damien Allen (2-24) and James Barnard opened the bowling and kept Spingwood's batsmen at crease while the run-rate increased.

Aaron Cobb (3-36), Wayne Stimpson and Mark Godfrey both got a wicket as Leverington bowled and fielded well.

Skipper Godfrey juggled his bowlers well as Leverington kept the pressure on Springwood batsmen and by the 45th over had no chance of winning.

Springwood finished on 122-8.

Wisbech Town first team skipper Gary Freear was in fine form, scoring 89 runs before taking 3-32 to help his side to a 67-run Tucker Gardner Division One victory over Histon.

Adam Hodgson (32 not out), Simon Freear (23), James Williams (22) and Craig Johnson (24) all contributed to Wisbech's total of 229-8.

Histon's No. 3 I Lawrence scored 51 but his team-mates couldn't make a game of it.

James Williams took 3-27, Johnson took 2-30 and Tom Bourne grabbed 2-31.

Lyndon Waters returned incredible bowling figures of 5-35 but Wisbech seconds still went down by 22 runs in their Hunts Division Two clash with Godmanchester thirds.

A 94 from opener O Fox helped Godmanchester to their score of 182 all out.

Paul Strickle took 2-33, Charles Baxter took 2-25 and Orlando Prestidge grabbed 1-57.

Wisbech replied with 160 all out with Strickle (40) and Richard Harnwell (28) their top scorers.

Nick Pack returned phenomenal bowling figures of 3-4 to help Wisbech fourth team to an easy West Norfolk Division Four win over Dereham thirds.

Dereham were all out for 93 with David LeMoir (2-18), N Drew (3-22), Kieran Haynes (1-13) and Matthew Parrin (1-16) making light work of their opponents.
