DESPITE a half-century from opener Glynn Wilson, Leverington came up just short against the leaders of West Norfolk Division 1 on Saturday.

Two wickets in the first two overs gave Leverington a promising start against Grimston, but a third-wicket stand of 107 and a number of boundaries in the closing overs saw Grimston finish on 228 for 8.

Aaron Cob finished with bowling figures of 3-49, skipper Ian Cooper finished with 3-50 and Damien Allen 2-57.

Leverington's opening batsmen came out fighting, with Glynn Wilson reaching a half-century and Shaun Sleight hitting 12.

Andy Reid also hit 39, with further contributions from Adam Garford (18), Adam Fairbrother (16) and Orlando Prestidge (13).

But Leverington ended on 197 - three short of picking up another bonus point.
