YOUNGER members of Wisbech Swimming Club showed their potential when they took part in Mildenhall's Bussens and Parkin Novice Trophy Gala on Saturday.

There were debut appearances from Harry van Daalen, Sam Johnson, Emily Pilbeam and Oliver Haddon and they put aside their nerves to return excellent results.

Oliver earned a second and a fourth place, Emily gained first and second place finishes, Sam came third and fourth in his events and Harry returned two fourth places.

First places went to Leah Harrington in the 12/u 50m breaststroke and 12/u backstroke, Abigail Foley in the 9yrs 25m freestyle, Annabel van Daalen in the 10/u 25m backstroke, Lee Clarke in the 12/u 50m butterfly, Kate Newton in the 10/u 25m breaststroke and Emily Pilbeam in the 10/u 25m freestyle.

Due to the large number of swimmers not attending the gala, many swims were not awarded points and the Wisbech total was low.

The parents' relay team recorded the same time as the Newmarket team but were awarded second place.
