Wisbech Town Reserves lifted the Peterborough and District Chairman’s Championship Shield Trophy after a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Fenland rivals Whittlesey Athletic Reserves.
The two sides, who are 12 places apart in Division One of the Peterborough and District League, met in the final of the competition at Peterborough Northern Star’s Branch Bros Stadium, but neither side could find the decisive goal throughout the 90 minutes.
The rivals also drew a blank in extra time, meaning the tie would be decided by a penalty shoot-out.
Goalkeeper Jordan Packi was the hero for the Fenmen’s second string in the shoot-out, with the on-loan Chatteris Town man saving two Whittlesey efforts to give his men a 5-3 success.
Wisbech Town Reserves have experienced a successful Division One campaign, finishing in second, whilst Whittlesey have struggled for form this season and finished in 14th.
