Jody Cundy has been named as part of Great Britain’s para-cycling squad for 2018.
The 39-year-old from Walpole St Andrew enjoyed another successful year in 2017, sealing a 13th track world title at the UCI Para-Cycling World Champions in March, before receiving an OBE the following month – an accolade he described as “a bit of a surprise”.
He also combined with GB teammates Louis Rolfe and Jon-Allan Butterworth to win gold in the team sprint at the Manchester International Para-Cycling International last month.
The trio, riding together for the first time since their Rio success, qualified fastest in the morning to book their place in the final and a time of 50.409 saw them run out as comfortable winners.
Cundy joins a squad that features names such as Kadeena Cox, Sophie Thornhill and Dame Sarah Storey. The squad boasts a combined total of 26 Paralympic golds and 92 world titles.
