Wisbech Inline Speed Skaters Eve McInerney could be the latest local talent to represent their country on the European stage.
The 15-year-old has qualified for the Great Britain squad after recording a top time in a 3,000m race in Germany.
McInerney crossed the line in four minutes and 47 seconds; a time which means that she can now be considered for selection to represent the nation at the continent’s top race events.
She also continued her fine recent form in club colours recently, claiming another victory for Wisbech at a race at Birmingham Wheels and lifting the Venus Cup after finishing the 5,000m in first place.
Youngsters Arthur Buckler, 7 and Flynn McGurk also clinched gold medals in Birmingham and Dylan Taylor, James Eve, James Barwell and Mike McInerney all achieved top-three finishes.
Other team members who competed on the day and narrowly missed out on medal positions were Warren Eve and siblings Taylor, Kirby and Leah Barker, as well as Masters Men Graham Freear and Luke Frary, who competed in his debut outdoor race and finished an impressive overall fourth place.
Luke said: “I couldn’t have done it without the help of coach Glen Brown.”
