EASTERN COUNTIES
DIVISION ONE
Wymondham 29 Wisbech 0
WYMONDHAM moved 10 points clear of Wisbech at the top of the table after comfortably winning this top-of-the-table clash.
It was Wisbech's second defeat of the season.
With several players injured and unavailable, the visitors fielded a much-changed side after the thrilling cup win over Kingston the previous week.
Coach Richard Horne had to dig deep into the playing resources, allowing many of the squad players a run out in the first team.
The away side were on the back foot for much of the first half that saw Wymondham take full advantage to score 24 points before half-time.
In the second half, Wisbech managed to exert some control and though defending for long periods, restricted Wymondham to one further score.
Tom Martell was the pick of the forwards, along with Jake Smith, and the pair shared the Wisbech Man of the Match award.
All of the players who stepped up from the second team drew praise from the coach.
Wisbech entertain Woodbridge at Harecroft Road tomorrow at 2.30pm.
It will be their last game before the EDF Junior Vase quarter-final match against Castleford on February 23.
