TOP-CLASS performances by four Wisbech Grammar School hockey teams secured a clean sweep of victories in home matches against Ratcliffe College on Saturday.
Joshua Widdowson’s goal clinched a 1-0 win for the 1st XI while the second-string triumphed 2-0. The junior sides also triumphed with the under-13s winning 3-1 and the under-12s romping to a 4-1 victory.
Two teams travelled to Leicestershire to face Ratcliffe but failed to record victories. The under-14s drew 1-1 and the under-15s, missing several key players, lost 4-1.
Dominic Garfoot, in charge of boys’ hockey, said: “It was a very pleasing set of results against a school of similar size and performance.”
• Elsewhere, Wisbech’s ladies enjoyed a fine weekend as the first team maintained their sensational unbeaten run and the seconds won a crunch clash in their relegation battle.
