Wisbech men's 2nd XI 3

Pelicans men's 2nd XI 3

A FINE second-half performance saw Wisbech claw back a draw.

To prepare for their return to league action, Wisbech travelled to King's Lynn for their first match since the Christmas break.

The match started slowly on a difficult pitch.

The visitors found themselves 2-0 down before they settled thanks to some slick passing and slack marking.

The game then began to find its rhythm and Wisbech started to get the upper hand in midfield.

Wisbech pulled one back when a free hit that was smashed into the circle and Gary Freear got a deflection into the roof of the net.

Another Pelicans goal left the score at 3-1 at half-time.

A vastly improved Wisbech showed more resolve in the second half.

After a string of short corners, which were well saved by the home side's goalkeeper, a rebound fell to Howard Atkins who undercut the ball into the top of the net.

Another goal from Freear evened the score.

Wisbech survived a late scare when a Pelicans forward rounded the goalkeeper but had his shot blocked by the defence.

Wisbech are at home to Ely first team tomorrow at 2.30pm.
