Wisbech Town 1 Histon Reserves 1

STRIKER Rory Harper came off the bench to score on his Wisbech debut but a quick-fire equaliser resulted in a disappointing draw for the Fenmen.

Harper, who signed from King's Lynn on Monday, scored in the 65th minute, shortly after being introduced to Tuesday's match.

A fine move between Nathan Watson and Scott Cubberley down the left wing finished with Cubberley delivering a low cross to the edge of the six-yard box and Harper beat the keeper to a challenge to finish.

He then took a dramatic tumble before jumping up to be mobbed by his team-mates.

But three minutes later Histon equalised from a corner.

Wisbech player-manager Gary Setchell said: "We played some decent passing football but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

"We dominated possession but only created one decent chance which Rory took very well. They had two corners all game and equalised from one of them.

"This time last year I'd have been happy with a draw with Histon so the fact that I'm disappointed shows how far we've come."

The Fenmen have taken eight points from their last four league games.

They claimed their biggest win of the campaign so far with a 4-1 thrashing of Walsham-le-Willows on Saturday.

Cubberley and Darren Jimson scored two goals each and striker Billy Smith excelled at right wing-back.

Setchell said: "When we play like that we can beat anyone in the division."

Wisbech now turn their attentions to tomorrow's home league match against Norwich United, who lost 5-2 to Kirkley and Pakefiled on Tuesday but beat Histon Reserves 5-0 on Saturday.

Setchell said: "They have been spending a bit of money recently and it will be a tough game.
