MARCH Athletic Club are running a free programme to encourage people back into sport.
The club is holding running sessions every Wednesday for six weeks, starting next week.
Anyone interested can receive free help and advice from club members.
March Athletic Club chairman Peter Jackman said: "This is for anyone who used to participate in sport regularly, whether it be football, squash, running or anything else and have stopped doing it.
"Taking regular exercise is very important but some people get stuck in a rut and don't do it.
"For some, the idea of joining a sports club is intimidating because they think they won't be good enough or they may embarrass themselves, but at these weekly running sessions everyone will be in the same boat. We will be running in a nice, quiet area and not through the streets of March."
The running sessions are part of a Government initiative, co-ordinated and funded by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough sports partnership Living Sport.
Sports clubs all over the county have been contacted and asked to get involved by offering the public free coaching and advice.
Mr Jackman said: "This is not a recruitment exercise. Some people may want to join our club afterwards, and that is fine, but we're involved in this purely because we want to see more people taking regular exercise.
"The aim is to get the people that come along to be able to run two miles by the end of it.
"The Great Eastern Fun Run, which is three miles, will take place on the Sunday after the sessions finish and it is hoped that some people may want to take part."
n The sessions will take place from Wednesday, September 3 to Wednesday October 8.
Anyone interested should meet at March Athletic Club, Officers Social Club, Whitemoor, Longhill Road, March for a 7pm start and they will go on until 8.30pm.
