A CLINICAL Bedford ensured Wisbech had a losing return from a five-week lay off.

Wisbech were pleased to reach half-time on level terms but Bedford scored on the break early in the second half.

Brad Apted equalised from a short corner but Bedford responded with a sweetly struck goal almost immediately.

Wisbech created chances but Bedford ran away with it.

Wisbech travel to Bishop's Stortford tomorrow.

MEN'S DIVISION THREE NW

KARL BELDING'S well-taken goal gave Wisbech three points from a very even contest.

Belding finished from a short corner early in the second half.

Wisbech survived fierce pressure for the last quarter of the game and goalkeeper Kevin Shippey made two point blank saves.

Wisbech II play Market Deeping II away tomorrow.

MEN'S DIVISION FOUR NW

Wisbech III 1 Horncastle 5

WISBECH were expecting their toughest game of the season against the league leaders but more than held their own in the opening exchanges.

But Horncastle's first goal turned the tide and it was 3-0 by half-time.

Wisbech pulled a goal back thanks to a quick-witted deflection from Bass.

Tempers became frayed and both teams spent much of the half with 10 men.

Despite a towering effort by Esser, Horncastle added two more.

Wisbech III are at home to Bourne II tomorrow at 2:30pm.

LADIES' EAST DIVISION ONE

Wisbech I 3 Bury St Edmunds 5

DESPITE some fine saves from Jade Sykes Bury took a 2-0 lead.

Good play from Emma Baker and player of the match Lisa Williamson won Wisbech a flick which was scored by Sue Slator.

Baker scored a minute later but Bury went 3-2 up a minute before half-time.

Bury added a fourth but Claire Apted made it 4-3 before Bury added a late goal.

Wisbech ladies I are at home to Harleston tomorrow at 1pm.

EAST LADIES' DIVISION 1N

Ipswich and East Suffolk 3 Long Sutton I 2

LONG SUTTON produced an exceptionally hard-working performance.

IES went 2-0 up before Mel Ludlam scored a solo goal.

IES scored on the break and Ludlam scored again after Mel Carrier's shot was parried.

Sutton failed to capitalise on a great spell of attacking play and Leanne Woodhead was named player of the match.
