WISBECH Hockey Club enjoyed two derby wins over March and won four of the six matches they were involved in at the weekend.

Braces from Lee Peck and Carl Belding, plus a Gary Freear strike helped Wisbech men's seconds to a convincing 5-1 NE14 Division 3NW victory at March seconds.

Wisbech men's thirds 3-2 home NE14 5NW win over March thirds was a closer affair.

Mark Jones sneaked the ball past the goalkeeper to give Wisbech an early lead, March drew level after some poor marking and it was 1-1 at half-time.

A below par Wisbech restored their lead with a good finish from man of the match Tom Jupp and Richard Claxton scored to make the game safe with five minutes left.

March scored a consolation goal from a short corner in the final minute.

Wisbech men's firsts beat Cambridge City first team 8-5 at home in the NE14 Men's Premier A Division, but as 13-gaol thrillers go this was a pretty ordinary match

Goals from Joe Melton, Brad Apted and Luke Smith gave Wisbech a commanding 3-0 lead before City pulled one back.

A sublime Apted finish from a Drew Harvey ball made it 4-1 at half-time.

Cambridge opened the scoring in the second half but Wisbech struck straight back as Apted completed his hat-trick.

Cambridge again came back with a short corner goal before Sam Blunt took over for Wisbech. Firstly he flicked the ball home from a short corner. Then, either side of Cambridge goals, he won two penalty strokes after beating the keeper and having goal-bound shots stopped illegally.

Wisbech host Bedford tomorrow at 2.30pm.

Goals from Jenny Martell, Lisa Williamson, Shelley Jones and Dionne Ibrahim helped Wisbech ladies' seconds to a 4-2 home Cambs Ladies Premier League victory over Cambridge City thirds.

Gilly Dunn controlled the midfield and win the player of the match award.

Wisbech ladies seconds are away to Cambs South tomorrow.

But Wisbech ladies' first team lost 1-0 at home to Watton firsts in the NE14 Division 1N and the men's fifth team lost 3-0 at St Neots fourths in the NE14 Division 6NW.
