Wisbech captain Charlie Baxter believes a big crowd could inspire his side to victory in tomorrow's basement battle with Felixstowe.

The two sides have picked up a combined two points between them in 17 Premier A games this season.

Wisbech’s 8-0 defeat at Wapping on Saturday was their eighth straight loss, but Baxter has faith in his players to pull a crucial win out the bag.

Baxter said: “It’s an absolute must win game. Felixstowe came up from the league below and have struggled as much as us and only have two draws to show for it.

“We feel like we could have got results in the season so far so they’re in no better position than us.

“If we get a win then it lifts us off the bottom of the table and only a point off getting out of the relegation zone.

“I’ve still got every faith we can stay in this league, and hopefully Saturday will be the springboard we need for survival.

“A big crowd could make all the difference (2.30pm start) so hopefully we get a lot of people down.”

Wisbech ladies carried on their strong start to the season with a 3-1 win over St Ives.

The hosts started out well and took an early lead - Megan Fey set up Nat Ward to coolly slot home.

St Ives levelled shortly after when they were awarded a penalty flick for a defender’s foot on the line.

Wisbech replied with goals by Leanne Williamson and Fey before the break.

Despite a sub-standard second half performance, Wisbech held firm at the back and took the three points.

The ladies, who are fourth in Division 1N, face a tough double header weekend.

Up first is tomorrow’s league game at Cambridge University, who are one place above them.

On Sunday, they host Norwich City in the cup.
