Bacon’s sumptuous strike in the Fenmen’s 4-1 victory over Peterborough Northern Star in October was selected as a runner-up from thousands of entries in the national competition, which was judged by former England stars Jamie Redknapp and Jamie Carragher and Sky Sports presenter, Ed Chamberlain.

The former Fenmen striker, who now plays for Mildenhall Town in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, has been given £10,000 for his effort, which he will donate to a non-league club of his choice.

Bacon’s wonderful goal, where he controlled the ball on his chest, flicked it over the defender before lashing an unstoppable volley past the goalkeeper from 18 yards, was on a list of five runners-up, behind South Shields striker Warren Byrne’s winner.
