You get what you deserve in football and we got what we deserved. Wisbech Town football manager muses on their 3-1 loss

Wisbech hopes of winning the United Counties League Championship were dealt a severe blow with a 3-1 loss to fellow championship rivals Newport Pagnall.
Wisbech were on the back foot as early as the fourteenth minute when they fell behind to a goal from Fazel Koriya. Things got worse for Wisbech just three minutes later when keeper Paul Bastock was beaten at the near post from a powerful shot from Michael Lyon.
Wisbech manager Gary Setchell sent his players out five minutes early after the half time break but a mistake at the back allowed Newport’s Tom Liversedge to score a third goal after only six minutes into the second half which effectively finished the game as a contest.
Wisbech could have got back into the game after Liversedge was sent off for a stamp. In the last fifteen minutes Wisbech went all out attack and were unlucky not to cut the deficit when Billy Smith’s shot hit the post and rebound straight back to the arms of the Newport goal keeper.
Wisbech eventually scored late into injury time by Michael Frew but this was only a consolation goal.
Stechell said “I am a massive believer that you get what you deserve in football and we got what we deserved.”
“We talked at length about the first fifteen - twenty minutes that we have got assert ourself on the game we are the home side and they done exactly to us what I wanted us to do to them I got about us in the midfield. The first half it looked like men against boys.”
“We had our worse half since I have been here but I have got to give credit to Newport they stuck it to us and I told the lads that if they get a head they would be difficult to break down as they have got a lot of experience at the back and slowed the game down.”
