Wisbech Town boss Dick Creasey has challenged his men to set off on a big winning streak after bagging their second straight triumph in sensational style.

The Fenmen hit an excellent eight strikes past a hapless Huntingdon Town side on Tuesday evening in an 8-1 success, just three days after finding the net four times in a 4-2 win at Oadby United.

Wisbech’s impressive back-to-back victories have fired them to within five points of the top six and Creasey has now challenged his side to keep the momentum going – but insists he is not getting carried away despite their red-hot form in front of goal.

“It’s about time that we’ve found our goal-scoring form,” he said.

“We got eight goals on Tuesday night but it was disappointing that we couldn’t score more. We could have scored another eight.

“We won’t get carried away because we haven’t been great at times this season but we’re starting to score goals and scoring goals is what wins matches.”

Youngster Harry Limb got Tuesday’s rout underway before braces from Alex Beck, Michael Frew and Adam Millson and an Edgaras Buzas strike secured Wisbech’s biggest win of the season – and their biggest ever goals tally at home - against the division’s basement boys.

“There’s a long way to go and a lot of football matches still to be played, but we need to start a run and getting amongst the goals is certainly a good start,” Creasey said.

“We haven’t had too many back-to-back wins and we want to hit the heights of a four, five, or six-match winning streak.”

Wisbech can notch a third straight win against Peterborough Northern Star tomorrow (3pm), but Creasey is wary of the side that has experienced a similar campaign to the Fenmen so far.

“Northern Star have been a little bit like us – a bit inconsistent,” he said.

“But it’s a game we want to win.”
