Wisbech Town have signed defender Danny Emmington from local rivals Wisbech St Mary.
The 22-year-old, who had a spell at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium as an under 18s player, becomes the Fenmen’s third signing of the week after the arrivals of Josh Ford and Jamie Stevens on Monday.
Wisbech boss Dick Creasey said: “First and foremost he’s a Wisbech boy, and if you could have 15 or 16 of them in the squad then you would.
“He spent some time with us as a 16 and 17-year-old but for some reason drifted away and went to play his football elsewhere.
“He’s somebody I’ve kept a close eye on for some time and we’re delighted to welcome him back to the football club.”
Emmington spent half of last season at higher-level King’s Lynn Town, before re-signing for Arran Duke’s Wisbech St Mary, who he helped reach Step Six for the first time in the 2015/16 season.
• The club’s reserve side is looking for a new manager.
The ideal candidate must have experience at managing in the PDFL Premier Division or equivalent (Step Seven).
The successful candidate will work closely with the club’s first team manager to develop players capable of moving to a higher level.
Applications, along with a football CV, must be emailed to email@example.com.
