Wisbech St Mary boss Arran Duke couldn’t be happier that his side has found a return to winning ways.
The Saints snapped a run of run of five games without a win – a run that saw them tumble to 15th in the Thurlow Nunn Division One standings – with a hard-fought 3-2 success over Downham Town last night.
Duke’s men took their first three points since late March thanks to goals from Danny Emmington, Josh Burrows and James McManus.
“I’m delighted to get back to winning ways, especially in a tough derby,” admitted a relieved Duke.
“The lads worked very hard and got their reward. We can now go into Saturday’s game looking to build some momentum.”
St Mary bring the curtain down on their league campaign on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Team Bury (3pm), before their huge KO Cup final with King’s Lynn Town Reserves next Friday (May 5).
“Hopefully we can end our first season at Step Six over the 50 point mark,” said Duke.
“We welcome back Nick Davey on Saturday which is a massive boost and will give the lads another lift going into the next two fixtures.”
