Wisbech Town boss Gary Setchell has called for the local public to give his side a push towards the United Counties League Premier Division title.

The Fenmen are unbeaten at home in league action since Setchell succeeded Dick Creasey in the hotseat.

Five of their remaining nine Premier Division fixtures are on home turf at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium and Setchell is convinced that big crowds can provide a boost to his players.

“We’re going for the title, we’re scoring a lot of goals, we’re playing good football and we need the people of Wisbech to get behind us,” stated Setchell.

“I know it was a cold and horrible day last Saturday, but we only had a crowd of 145 for a game against another team going for promotion.

“In years gone by we would have had treble that number at the very least.

“We’ve got some really important home games ahead – starting tomorrow – and I really hope that people will turn out in force.

“Their backing makes a big difference to the lads who are doing everything they can to take this club up to a higher level.

“We’re just like any football club – we need the support of the town.”

Wisbech’s lowest crowd of the season was 120 for a midweek game against Peterborough Northern Star. Their average home crowd this season is 184.
