Thurlow Nunn League First Division wins are proving to be like buses for Wisbech St Mary.

Arran Duke’s men waited almost six months for a victory before beating Needham Market Reserves recently - and then followed up with another success six days later when triumphing 2-1 at King’s Lynn Town Reserves last Friday night.

Ben Coe and red-hot Nick Davey - striking for the ninth time in six games - hit the goals at The Walks to secure a derby triumph that delighted Duke.

He said: “It was a big local derby for us and the lads gave it their all. They really stepped up to the occasion, their work-rate was superb and we fully deserved to win the game.

“It could be a real turning point us. No-one gave us a chance going into the game but we proved a lot of people wrong.

“It is great that we are finally seeing the confidence returning to the players. To have back-to-back wins and be unbeaten in three games is a massive boost.

“We know that we’ve still got a lot of work to do but we will get there.”

Saints’ midweek clash against Framlingham was unsurprisingly postponed and their trip to leaders Woodbridge tomorrow has also been called off. A home clash against Leiston Reserves on Tuesday could provide their next outing, weather permitting.
