MORE than 100 footballers battled it out for glory when March Town United held their second annual Lenford Cup five-a-side tournament.

Twenty adult men's teams played in four groups of five before quarter-final knock out stages at the club's GER Ground.

A side called Peeriege won the final 2-0.

The tournament was organised by March's first team captain Luke Pepper to raise money for the club.

He said: "It was played to a decent standard. We had a couple of March Town teams playing and they didn't do as well as expected.

"I'm hoping to organise a junior tournament at some point in the future."

March Town chairman Phil White said: "Luke did a fantastic job organising everything. He's a real star for the club.

"I'd also like to thank Terry Rutterford from Lenford Electricals for sponsoring the event.
