BOSTON United will bring their full first team to Fenland Park on Tuesday for a friendly with Wisbech Town.

The match will see Wisbech's veteran centre-back Steve Appleby play against the club he once captained.

Appleby arranged the match because Wisbech do not have a competitive fixture until January 26.

Wisbech boss Roy McManus said: "Boston have been trying to arrange a friendly for a while. As we have no game, I thought this the perfect opportunity to hold a special match so I told Steve to speak to his contacts at the club.

"Their manager Tommy Taylor has promised to bring his first team squad for the match so it will be a tough test."

The Fenmen drew 2-2 with the Blue Square North side in a pre-season friendly, thanks to a James McManus penalty and an own goal, with Kieron Leabon and Paul Alexander netting for the Pilgrims.

McManus said: "I'm going to bring a squad of 16 or 17 players and give some of the fringe players a chance to shine.

"I'm not expecting to win I just hope we can give them a good, competitive game.

"My lads have nothing to lose so I'm hoping they can just go out there with no pressure and express themselves.

"Hopefully we will get a decent crowd down at Fenland Park so we can create a special and memorable occasion.
