WISBECH have nothing to fear ahead of next week's Cambs Invitation Cup final against Mildenhall Town, according to club spokesman Spencer Larham.

The Suffolk side have beaten The Fenmen 3-1 and 6-1 in the Ridgeons Premier Division this season and are three places and 12 points above them.

But Wisbech have had a resurgence of form under Steve Appleby.

They suffered their first defeat in nine games when they went down 2-0 at home to league leaders CRC on Tuesday night.

Goals from ex-Mildenhall striker Robbie Harris, Rory Harper and Scott Cubberley helped Wisbech to a 3-1 home win over fourth-placed Kirkley and Pakefield on Saturday.

Larham, editor of the Wisbech Town website, said: "Mildenhall have some very good players. We know all about Jamie Thurlbourne who played left-back for us for a brief spell last season and Aaron Turner, who used to play at Soham is also a very good.

"But we're playing very well and have nothing to fear.

"We were very unlucky to not get a point from the CRC game.

"This is our first cup final for nine years and the lads will be well up for it."

Ash Murrell and Stuart Ablett are both expected to miss the game through injury but Wisbech are otherwise expected to be at full strength.

* Next Thursday's final will be at Cambridge United's R Costings Abbey Stadium and the match kicks off at 7.45pm.
