Wisbech Town boss Dick Creasey hopes his players can carry their fine form into 2017.

The Fenmen enjoyed a terrific end to 2016 as they put together a 12-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

They have not lost since going down 4-2 at former boss Brett Whaley’s Yaxley side in late October.

It’s a fine streak Wisbech will aim to continue when entertaining Wellingborough Town on Saturday (3pm) ahead of a re-arranged trip to high-flying Deeping Rangers follows on Tuesday.

Creasey said: “Things have been going well and the only disappointments lately have been drawing a couple of games that we dominated.

“It’s been a good run and there is a buzz about the place again. Winning breeds confidence and we have a group of players enjoying their football.

“We didn’t get out of the blocks anywhere near well enough and I don’t mind holding my hands up and admitting I didn’t get the squad right in the summer.

“We’re certainly in much better shape now in that respect and the results speak for themselves.

“Our league position still isn’t what we would like it to be and we have to focus on trying to climb into the top six at the very least.”

Wisbech enter 2017 in ninth place in the Premier Division standings. They are eight points off the top six spot Creasey wants as a minimum this season.
