RIDGEONS LEAGUE, PREMIER DIVISION

Wroxham 1 Wisbech Town 1

WISBECH Town manager Steve Taylor will be looking for the same fighting spirit his players showed at Wroxham last weekend when they host Harwich and Parkeston on Saturday.

Taylor's severely-depleted squad brought home a point from Wroxham.

The Fenmen had just 13 players available for the trip to Norfolk and one of those - defender Gary Setchell - filled in as manager with Taylor absent due to a family bereavement.

And that fight was made worse when captain Paul Cousins was injured after less than half an hour of Saturday's game, leaving Setchell as the only available substitute.

However, Setchell did not call upon himself and the Fenmen looked set for all three points until the closing stages of play.

Stuart Cobb gave Wisbech the lead shortly after half-time in an end-to-end game, with a tap in from two yards from a Jason Pease corner.

The goal burst Wroxham into life and resolute defending from the Fenmen, particularly man of the match Lee Day, kept the hosts out until the 79th minute.

Wroxham's goal came from a 20-yard free kick, which was hit low and hard through a crowd of players. It fell at the feet of Gavin Crane just three yards out.
