THE Fenmen will be out on a revenge mission when they welcome Walsham-le-Willows to Fenland Park tomorrow.

Wisbech suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat in the FA Vase the last time the two sides met - on September 22.

Jamie Muffett received a red card during the match and three days later, Wisbech were thrashed 9-0 at Soham Town Rangers.

Joint managers Ian Jones and Mel Mattless resigned before the next match.

Wisbech boss Roy McManus said: "I've heard that the Walsham match was an absolute farce. The club was going through a difficult stage and the players weren't performing. I've heard the Walsham fans gave the lads a lot of stick and it was a very embarrassing match for us.

"They will all be reminded of how they felt during that match and I hope they will be motivated by revenge."

Tomorrow's match will be the first time the two sides have met in the Ridgeons Premier Division this season.

Wisbech are two places above the Suffolk side in 13th position.

The Fenmen's five-game winning run ended with a 4-2 league defeat to CRC at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday.

Skipper Lee Day fired Town into the lead with a fine finish inside the six-yard box after James McManus's corner.

CRC levelled five minutes later when an unmarked striker scored a header from a free-kick.

The hosts went 2-1 up when Wisbech's handball appeals were waved away and Day poked a CRC winger's cross into his own net.

Wisbech were left fuming when the referee failed to play advantage when Darren Edey was clean through.

And a breakaway finished with a fine cross and header putting CRC 3-1 up 10 minutes into the second half.

Stuart Ablett almost pulled one back but just failed to make a decent connection with Stuart Cobb's cross to the back post, and the hosts went 4-1 up with another clinical break moments later.

With 15 minutes left Cobb made a great run and cross from the left and Ablett powered a header into the roof of the net for 4-2.

McManus said: "I was very disappointed with the referee not playing advantage at such a crucial stage in the game and he even apologised about it afterwards.

"But I'm happy with the lads' efforts and hopefully we can bounce back with a win over Walsham. I still see that safety is not guaranteed so I expect my players to fight for every point.
