THE scene is set for a blood and thunder FA Cup battle of the Fens on Saturday when Wisbech take on Ely at the Unwin Ground.

Both sides go into the match on the back of outstanding midweek Ridgeons Premier Division performances.

The Fenmen were incredibly unfortunate to lose 1-0 to CRC at the Abbey Stadium on Wednesday night.

Ely beat Dereham 3-2 away the previous night.

Wisbech player-boss Gary Setchell said: "The lads played an unbelievable game on Wednesday.

"CRC had a very strong side with several Cambridge United players in their squad and we were incredibly unlucky.

"My players were all shattered at the end of the game and I couldn't ask for more from any of them."

Charlie Defty, making his Wisbech debut, impressed as part of a back three and new signing and Jordan Yong was outstanding in central midfield.

Darren Jimson and Scott Cubberley were lively in the Fenmen's attack.

Wisbech's best chance came in the 65th minute when Anthony Reeve's header was cleared off the line following a corner.

CRC's winner came from a close range finish from their own corner 10 minutes from time.

Setchell said: "I watched Ely on Tuesday. They had a cracking result. We're two hard-working teams so it's set to be a cracker on Saturday.
