Wisbech Town have been forced to pull out of their opening pre-season friendly tomorrow due to a lack of players.

The Fenmen were due to travel to neighbours March Town for the annual BKD Cup clash, but it has now been called off.

The Wisbech Standard has been unable to contact manager Gary Setchell this week, but it is understood the club have a number of players away on holiday.

Posting on the club’s Facebook discussion page, Setchell confirmed that nine players have signed for next season with striker Michael Frew expected to join them when he returns from holiday.

Setchell has lined up four potential new signings and revealed four other trialists have also been attending pre-season training sessions.

Wisbech are scheduled to go to lower-level Boston Town on Tuesday night before entertaining higher-level Kettering Town next Saturday (July 14).
