FENLAND Running Club enjoyed a successful Bank Holiday Monday competing at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire, with 20 senior and six junior members taking part in races.

The junior members tackled a challenging 3km course and the first club runner home was Braden Jermey in a time of 13mins 34secs. He was second in his age group, nine-year-old boys.

Second home was Isobel Chapman in 18mins 8secs, placing her fourth in the nine-year-old girls.

Harry Holmes was third in the six-year-old boys group in 18mins 9secs, with Finley and Oliver Murdoch finishing in 18mins 41secs and 22mins 41secs respectively.

Sarah Gauvin ran round to encourage the junior runners and then went straight on to compete in the 10K Race.

In the 10K Race, Fenland runners came home ninth and tenth - Robin Parker in 38mins 2secs, taking first in the Male Vet 40 section, and Steve Cockrell close behind in 38mins 12secs.

The Ladies achieved exactly the same positions in their competition with Maire Irlam coming ninth in 48mins 8secs taking first place in the Ladies Vet 35 prizes, and Lisa Jermey tenth in 48mins 52secs.
