SCHOOLBOY karting star George Russell clinched his second podium finish of the British Super One Championship campaign at the weekend.
The 13-year-old, from Tydd St Giles, qualified in pole position at Shenington and won both heats but received a 10-second penalty for not being in the correct position on the rolling up lap.
The Wisbech Grammar School pupil, who races for Millenium Motorsport when competing in England, was relegated to fifth place on the grid. However, the determined youngster battled through the field to secure a third-placed finish on the final lap to keep himself second in the championship.
Russell tasted further success with his Italian team Intrepid Kart International last weekend at the CIK-FIA European qualifier in Brandon.
The teenager was one of 80 drivers from Northern Europe vying for a place at this year’s European Championship in Spain and Russell booked his slot with another fine display.
