CRICKET ROUND-UP

WISBECH Town first team captain Gary Freear took his season's tally past the 1,000-run mark when his 87 helped Wisbech cruise to a comfortable Tucker Gardner Division One victory over Sawston.

And an excellent bowling performance in which Chris Clark starred with 4-24 saw Freear's side make light work of the visitors.

Clark cleared up the work done earlier by James Williams (2-37), Ben Allsop (1-25), and Henry Rosier (2-15).

Freear led Wisbech's response and James Williams's 42 not out helped them reach their target in just 31 overs.

Good batting performances from Dom Stannard (40), Sam Darlow (38) and Carl Pope (37) saw Wisbech Town's second team win a hastily-arranged friendly over March seconds by 48 runs.

With the two sides' matches, against Leverington and Somersham respectively, called off the previous days, the Fenland rivals organised a friendly match for Sunday.

Wisbech reached 206-6, despite Andrew Wright's 3-51.

March's reply was hindered by heavy rain, but they stayed out to complete the match and John Wallis scored 58, Richard Green hit 27 and Gary Nicholls hit 25 not out to help March to 158-7.
