IT was extra-time heartache for Wisbech St Mary Under-13 Girls who lost 4-2 to Woottons in their league cup final.
Woottons took an early lead in the Fenland District Youth Soccer League Girls Under-13 Cup Final but Saints’ Caitlin Cossey equalised. However, Woottons scored again to take a 2-1 lead into the break.
Harriet Chapman inadvertently equalised for St Mary when Victoria Gatward’s shot struck her in the face and deflected into the net but then had to be substituted due to a serious nose bleed.
Saints nearly snatched a winner at the death but conceded twice in extra time to finish runners-up despite a brave display.
