TWO Wisbech Hockey Club matches survived the weather with the men's fist team losing 4-2 at Havering and the men's thirds going down 3-1 at home against St Neots thirds.

Joe Melton struck twice in the first team's NE14 Premier A match.

Wisbech were missing six players and worked tirelessly.

In midfield Aaron Cobb, Matt Levanda and Dan Martell put in some excellent work. Martell was a particular thorn in Havering's side and Matt Wate and Jon Shippey impressed in Wisbech's defence.

The score was 1-1 at half-time but Havering went ahead through a short corner.

The game became farcical with Havering being awarded three penalty strokes, two of which were scored, before Melton put away a penalty for Wisbech.

Wisbech host Dereham tomorrow at 2.30pm.

Wisbech third team produced their worst performance of the season in the NE14 Division 5NW and paid the price by losing their unbeaten record.

Tom Peggs scored from the top of the D to give Wisbech the lead but St Neots completely dominated, scoring three good goals to take the win.

Man of the match went to Andrew Wagner.
