BEN ALLSOP'S impressive 5-51 helped Wisbech Town first team maintain their perfect start to the season.

They beat Nassington by 119 runs to make it three wins from three and make themselves early pace-setters in the Tucker Gardner Division One.

Former captain Gary Freear scored 64, new skipper James Williams chipped in with 65 and there were solid contributions from Allsop (27) and Zak Brown (31) as Wisbech opened with 253-8.

Allsop was well assisted in the bowling by Craig Johnson who took 2-19 and Brown (1-8) and Matthew Parrin jnr (1-6) were Wisbech's other wicket takers.

Nassington's Phil Slinn hit 53 in the reply of 134 all out.

Bowlers Ivan Burgess and Adam Hodgson were the stars for Wisbech seconds, taking 4-24 and 3-19 respectively in a seven-wicket CCA Senior Division Three thrashing Great Chishill.

Brad Apted took 1-1 and Charles Baxter, 1-17, as the villagers could only muster 69 all out.

Gavin Plume was Wisbech's top scorer with 32 not out in the reply of 73-3.

James Dod was Wisbech's only century-maker a the weekend.

His excellent 107 not out helped Wisbech thirds to a 67-run CCA Junior Division 2A victory over Soham.

He was well assisted by Adrian Peck, who hit 95 as Wisbech posted 242-5.

Kieran Haynes (3-30) and Bob Burgess (3-39) helped dismiss Soham for 175.

And Wisbech fourths ensured a perfect Saturday for the club, with Lee Peck (4-16), Fergus Brown (3-5) and Nick Drew (2-15) helping them to a five-wicket CCA Junior Division 4A win over Witcham seconds.

Witcham could score just 80 all out and Brown (31 not out) and Lawrence Twell (30) were Wisbech's top scorers in their 84-5.

SUNDAY CRICKET

MARTIN PARRIN'S 4-16 helped Wisbech seconds to a four-wicket Rutland Division Six victory over Weldon.

Gary Freear (2-33) and Lyndon Waters (2-35) were also amongst the wickets to restrict Weldon to 124 all out.

Charles Baxter (35) and Carl Pope (29) were the top scorers in Wisbech's reply of 127-6.

But Wisbech thirds were the club's only losers at the weekend, going down by 94 runs to St Ives in a Fenland Invitation match.

David LeMoir (2-27), Nick Drew (2-41) and Danny Haynes (2-51) were Wisbech's wicket-takers as St Ives opened with 243-6.

Dom Stannard, in the middle order, was Wisbech's top scorer with 30 in the reply of 149 all out.
