WISBECH Town manager Dick Creasey is to make a decision on his future at the club following his team's final game of the season on Saturday.

The trip to Ridgeons Premier strugglers Halstead Town marks the end of a disappointing season for the Fenmen but it will also signal the start of crunch talks between Creasey and the Wisbech board of directors.

This week's departure of co-manager Kevin Boon, after only four weeks with the club, has surprised many, including Creasey, who said: "Kevin didn't turn up for the Ipswich Wanderers game two weeks ago and I haven't heard from him since.

"I can't comment on his reasons for leaving the club because I don't know what they are."

He added: "There may be some comments flying about but he can say what he wants. I am certainly not going to get involved in a war of words."

But Boon's exit is not the key factor in Creasey's decision to stay at Wisbech.

As reported in the Wisbech Standard last Friday, Creasey has been discussing next season's budget with the board of directors but he was unwilling to reveal the outcome of the meeting, saying: "I have no comment about the budget but the board have asked me to continue with the club next season."

Creasey would not be drawn on his future at the club but further discussions with Wisbech chairman, John Petch, are scheduled to follow Saturday's match and the Fenmen manager looks set to make an immediate decision.

He said: "I will make my mind up when the season is over. It has been a disappointing and frustrating season for everyone and to be honest, I will be glad when we have finished it.

"I don't feel that myself or the players have really done our best for the club this year. I want to stay and put that right but the circumstances may change."

Petch also remained tight-lipped. He said: "I am not prepared to make any comments on next season's budget. I hope to announce all the plans for next season as soon as this one is finished."

There was more bad news for Petch this week when the reserves' management team of Stuart Webb and Paul Clarke also left the club.

Petch said: "We will be looking at the situation with the reserves and we hope to appoint someone as soon as possible."

On the pitch, the Fenmen suffered another disappointing defeat on Saturday when they lost 2-1 at home to third-placed Lowestoft Town.

A great strike from Darren Jimson gave Wisbech the lead in the first half but the Fenmen's final home game of the season proved to be a frustrating one when the visitors scored two goals after the break.

Creasey said: "Once again, we took the lead and we couldn't hold onto it. We created enough chances to win the game but you will always be in trouble if you don't take them."

Wisbech bring the curtain down on their season with the trip to Halstead on Saturday. Halstead picked up three vital points on Tuesday evening but they will be keen to get a result as they bid to escape relegation.

Creasey said: "We must approach the game in a professional way and I am very keen to end the season with a win."

The Wisbech manager is facing yet more injuries within his squad. Andy Lodge and Stuart Cobb are struggling with back and knee injuries picked up at the weekend.

Paul Cousins is unavailable and Kevin Ward is suspended.
