KEY Wisbech centre-back Paul Cousins may start tomorrow's league match against CRC at the Abbey Stadium.

The vice captain hasn't played for Wisbech first team since breaking his foot in a 1-0 home defeat to Dereham on December 29.

He was an unused substitute in the Fenmen's 3-0 win over Felixstowe and Walton on Saturday and has made two appearances for the reserve team.

Wisbech manager Roy McManus said: "Paul is a real battler, it would take a lot to keep him away from a football pitch.

"It's been a very quick recovery from a broken foot. Paul's been receiving expert advice from Phil Ward, who is a professional physio for Norwich City and that's really helped his recovery.

"He is in the squad for the CRC match and he may start. But we haven't lost for five matches, and won four of them, so it's hard to think about dropping anyone at the moment."

Midfielder Grant Rider is also available after recovering from shin splints but the Fenmen may be without striker Tom Benjamin, who picked up a back injury in training, and midfielder Stuart Ablett, who twisted his knee at the end of Saturday's win over Felixstowe and Walton.

McManus said: "Our club is made up of several local youngsters who have worked hard to play at this level and Saturday will give them a chance to play on a good pitch at Cambridge United's stadium.

"CRC have some very talented young players, but the pitch will suit us because we like to play football and I'm expecting a good game.
