Cottrel shines in Coniston

FENLAND Running Club's Steve Cottrell finished eighth of more than 1,600 runners in the 28th Coniston 14-mile Race.

He completed the hilly, scenic course around Coniston Water in a personal best time of 1:22:68.

Cottrell was among 15 members of Fenland Running Club to complete the course.

Rebecca Cousins, Maire Irlam, Jane Holmes and Greg Tagney also achieved personal bests.

Paskey Ruggiero, Keith White and Sarah Gauvin used the race as final preparation for the London Marathon on Sunday.

Ian Milburn ran with his daughter, Claudia, who was running the distance for the first time.
