THE Townsend Angling Club travelled to Wisbech St Mary last Sunday to fish the Kingfisher Lake with 28 anglers taking part and with the weather spot on things looked good. It was for a few but very hard for others.

Ron Clarke drew end peg 42 and came out on top with 76lb of carp to 13lb. Gavin Wright came second with carp and sturgeon. Most of his fish were caught on paste and his biggest was a 9lb sturgeon. His overall weight was 44lb.

I came third with 37lb of carp. All of my fish were caught on soft pellet.

Members of Wimblington Angling Club fished the Silver Fish Lake at Kingsland Reservoir and Shaun Strachan left the rest of the anglers in the shade, winning the match with 106lb of chub and tench to 4lb. He fished up I the water on the pole using pellet on the hook. Second place went to Jonny Bird with 42lb and Pat North was third with 38lb.

Over at Fields End Water last Thursday evening's match was won by Martin Howard with 38-5. All of his fish were taken up in the water using pellet on the hook. Hans Schuman was runner-up with 28.

Last Sunday Andy Smith landed 22-8 to win the Riverbed Angling Club's match on the low numbers with Black Bull fishing on the high numbers.

Gary Beautyman won with 39-10 and Paul Turner was second with 32.

Then on Sunday, Southery Angling Club fished the whole lake and Colin Varney came out on top with 84-8. Bob Bates was second with 68-5 and Ricky James was third with 51-8.

This Saturday sees an open match on the pool and every Thursday evening there is an open match. Anyone wanting to take part should take part should contact Viccy or Charlie on 01354 740373.

Mill View Angling Club travelled to Milton Keynes to fish Alders Farm Carp Lakes.

Twenty anglers took part caught 2,158lb of carp to 10lb.

Barry Mason was top angler on the day, netting 278lb, Steve Smalley was second with 158lb followed by Tim Bates with 150lb.

This Sunday Mill View are fishing the Silver Fish Lake at Kingsland Reservoir. Draw time is 8.30am.

The fish went on a feeding spree at High Flyers Lake last Saturday. Lake manager Kenny Gammon won with 333lb of carp to 12lb. Titch Delph was second with 102lb.

But on Sunday Nigel Wright needed 81lb to win and Kenny Gammon was second with 53lb.

A week last Tuesday Jimmy Brooks won an open match with 45-12, Richard Button pushed him all the way with 44-12 and Andy May was third with 40lb.

Over at Decoy last Saturday Amanda Barber took top spot on the Beastie Lake with 115lb, followed by Jon Wincupp with 98lb.

On the same lake on Sunday, Ian Chessney took top spot with 100-00 and in second place with 97lb was Ted Sargent.

Finally, any March club members are welcome next Tuesday to help clear a few swims on the Twenty Foot Drain. Meet at Chain Bridge at 6.30pm.
