Manager Dick Creasey has committed himself to Wisbech Town for another season.

Creasey has overseen an impressive campaign from the Fenmen - including a remarkable 14 game winning streak.

With one United Counties League game left, Wisbech are still in contention for a top two finish.

Speaking at the club’s fan forum, Creasey said: “After taking some to think about whether I wanted to stay in football or not, I have decided to continue my task at Wisbech Town. My thanks go to my staff and the players for their support.”

Chairman Malcolm Clements said it was “only good for the club” that Creasey has agreed to stay in his post.

He said: “Dick was unsure whether he wanted to carry on in football or not but he has always had the best interests of this club at heart. He felt, with the club on a high, he was happy to keep going. That can only be good for the club.”

Wisbech went in to Saturday’s game in second but a 1-0 loss at Cogenhoe Town has seen them drop to third, one point behind Thurnby Nirvana.

In Saturday’s final round of fixtures, Wisbech travel to Northampton Sileby Rangers, while Thurnby are at Eynesbury Rovers.

Clements paid tribute to Creasey and his players for their “absolutely fantastic” second half of the season.

He said: “We’ve gone from strength to strength. Considering we were 11th in November, to be vying for a top two spot now is absolutely fantastic.”

Clements has already set his sights on next season. If Wisbech find themselves flying high come November, they will definitely apply for promotion, Clements says.

He said: “We are looking to push the club forward in the right direction. If we find ourselves in that position, we’ll definitely apply for promotion.”
