ANGLING

LAST weekend saw plenty of wind and rain but I'm glad to say it didn't stop the fish from feeding and there were good results from most lakes in the area.

Local club Mill View Tackle travelled to Pidley to fish Magpie Lake and Carl Richard took top spot with 62-12 of carp and tench. Pushing him all the way with 62-8 was Kev Peacock and Chris Saunders came third with 55lb.

A week last Tuesday saw the Mill View senior citizens in action on the same lake and Mac Campbell came first with 50lb 6oz. Roger Abbott was second with 43-9 and David Fragigue was third with 42lb.

The draw time for these Tuesday matches has been put back 9am.

Also fishing at Pidley last Sunday was the Ramsey Angling Club who were fishing on Jay Lake and Paul Kilby took top spot with 63lb 4oz. Roger Gowler was next with 43lb and Duncan Faulkes was third with 39-8.

Over at Decoy last Saturday Steve Lane won the open match fished on the Beastie Lake.

Steve landed carp to 6lb in his winning catch of 124lb.

Barry Mason came second with 105lb 12oz and Rob Bell was third with 89lb 4oz.

Then on Sunday the open match was moved to Yew Lake and Jon Whincup took top spot with 84-8 pushing Barry Mason into second place with 71-6.

Dave Cox came third with 43-12.

The three-hour Tuesday evening match fished on Buttonhole Lake is normally a sell out and you can see why with Danny Simper taking top spot from peg four.

Danny used paste all evening to land carp to 6lb in his winning weight of 75-12.

Richard Button was second with 58-5 and Jamie Crown was third with 48-12.

Once again the Highflyers Lake saw plenty of fish landed and on Saturday Tim Dabrown needed 127lb of carp to 10lb for top spot.

John Pesci was second with 111lb and Fred Nixon, third, with 95lb then on Sunday Gary Thorpe needed 173lb 8oz for top spot.

Ray Miller came second with 87lb and Kenny Gammon was third with 85lb 8oz.

Dave Pearce jnr had a good weekend at East Delph Lakes near Whittlesey.

On Sunday he took top spot with 141lb of carp to 8lb and Biddy Marshall was second with 84lb.

The following day he was first again with 188lb 12oz.

On both days Dave used cat meat as hook bait fished over pellet.

Last Sunday Dave Rawlings took top spot at Head Fen. Fishing on the Snake Lake Dave landed 146lb of carp and Ricky Young was second with 73lb.

Over at Doddington, Fields End water has started its Thursday evening matches and last Thursday Graham Dean too top spot with 31lb. Second place went to John Spalton with 24lb and Ray Sladden was third with 22lb.

Then last Sunday Chivers AC fished The Pool and Joel Scott took top spot with 36-8.

Zac Whiltshire was next with 22-8 and John Smith was third with 22lb.

This Tuesday sees the senior citizens in action on The Pool then a week on Saturday there is an open match on The Pool.
