PLANS are now in full swing for Fenland Grass Track Club's first race weekend of the year, which will be the Norman Southgate Memorial Meetings.

The club will be back at Runcton Holme, near King's Lynn.

The venue was used in October 2007 but the track has now been extended.

Saturday, June 7 sees the Norman Southgate Memorial Youth and Quad meeting with a full programme of youth racing including youth quads along with adult quad racing. There will be a beer tent and refreshments and camping available.

The following day, the main Norman Southgate Memorial Meeting, with all adult solo and sidecar classes, will take place.

With some good prize money on offer a top class entry is expected with the main event being the 500cc sidecars racing for the Norman Southgate Memorial trophy which was won in 2007 by British champions Shaun Harvey and Danny Hogg.

This class has been sponsored by www.nine12supercars.com and the winners will go away with a first prize of £250.

Simon Brown of nine12supercars has always been a supporter of 500cc sidecars and is well known for his support of other riders including Richard Smith who it is hoped will be at the meeting.

The club has also secured a sponsorship deal with March-based First Aid company Norcam, who have been providing emergency medical cover at race events.

They will again sponsor the youth racing at both the clubs meetings.

Norcam is now under new management with former employee John McDonnell taking over the company.

He said: " The youth riders show such enthusiasm we wanted to continue our support and further encourage them and in the same way give our company a higher profile.
