FOLLOWING four years of preparation, Wisbech karate instructor Steve King has achieved the honour of 4th Dan Black Belt.

Sensei King was tested in every aspect of karate when he took part in a gruelling five-hour grading at the Hudson Leisure Centre, Wisbech.

Under the scrutiny of Sensei Paul Griffin, 7th Dan, the Wisbech instructor came through the British National Martial Arts Association (BNMAA) grading and passed with flying colours.

But Sensei King is not finished there. He has already started to prepare for a 5th Dan grading - in five years time.

Sensei King said: "It was the toughest thing I have ever done and I have trained so hard for this.

"I would like to thank my son Seb for his help with my preparations, my family, my students and Dan Grades for their support and inspiration.

"Karate is a never ending learning experience and I have now begun my next journey to my 5th Dan in five years time.

"I am so glad I took a physical grading to earn my grade as too many instructors take honorary awards that mean nothing."

Sensei Griffin said: "Sensei King is a highly respected and skilled senior instructor within the BNMAA.

"He has shown great dedication and commitment to the art to achieve a very high standard to be proud of.

"He is a credit to the BNMAA and his school and a great role model for others to follow.
