ENGLAND World Cup winner Ben Kay visited Wisbech on Sunday to present the trophies at the Grammar School's first under-18s rugby 7s tournament.
The 6ft 6in lock played in all but one of England's games at the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
He handed the boys' award to Cranbrook School, from Kent, which won the cup competition, and gave the girls' trophy to Saskia Cooper, captain of Wisbech Grammar School's girls' team.
Eight schools from East Anglia, the east midlands and the south east were taking part. Cranbrook beat Felsted 17-14 in the final. The Grammar School boys, who came third overall, took the bowl and Gresham's School, in fourth place, won the shield.
The Grammar School girls beat Cranbrook School, which has a sixth form of 300 students, 12-0 in the final to win their trophy.
Organiser Phil Webb, head of boys' sport at Wisbech Grammar School, said: "The inaugural tournament was a great success, despite the appalling weather, and we look forward to many future sevens competitions.
