WISBECH Ladies’ first team remain unbeaten after a stalemate in their top of the table clash with Cambridge University. The men’s first team produced a fantastic comeback to triumph at Harpenden and the fourth team netted a valuable narrow win.

The ladies’ first team dropped their first points of the season as they were held to a 0-0 draw by title rivals Cambridge University. The home side’s winning run of eight consecutive games was ended as they were unable to capitalise on several good chances. But the ladies remain four points clear at the top of the table as they prepare to travel to King’s Lynn to take on the Pelicans next week.

Harpenden 1 Wisbech 3
Wisbech kept their title ambitions alive with a second-half comeback at Harpenden. A poor first half performance left them trailing at the interval but the side rallied in the second period. A well converted penalty stroke from Jon Shippey was followed by a Brad Apted reverse stick finish and the points were secured when Apted struck his second after great work from man of the match David Wood.

Wisbech IV 3 Rutland III 2
Wisbech survived a late comeback to hang on for a precious narrow victory over Rutland. Goals from Sam Blunt, Jack Bass and Isaac Chaplin-Barton and some stout defending from Graham Dunn, Ashley Else and Roger Goode ensured Wisbech claimed all three points.

Long Sutton 6 Newmarket 2
High-flying Long Sutton continued their sparkling form by dominating the game against an overwhelmed Newmarket. An attack-minded home side were too much for the visitors and cruised they crusied into a 4-1 half time lead. Good games were had by player of the match Melissa Ludlam and goalscorers Becky Kierman, Amy Kirkham, Holly Naismith and Ali Hobson.
