TYDD St Giles Golf Club’s Seniors celebrated the 10th anniversary of their Ryder Cup competition with a hard-fought contest in glorious summer sunshine.
Seniors were split into two teams, ‘England’ and ‘The Rest of the World’, with the latter winning a tight contest by 26 points to 25. The winning captain Brian Gough accepted the trophy before presenting medals to his team, along with an engraved crystal glass tankard, to mark the occasion.
Elsewhere, Tydd’s Seniors drew 3-3 at Wensum Valley with pairings Dennis Savory and Baz Smith (2&1) and Mike Parker and Gerry Sherriff (5&3) tasting success.
Evan Kemp and Malcolm Perrott (halved), Paul Jackson and Ken Walker (halved) and Brian Newby and Terry Sambridge (lost two down) were Tydd’s other pairings on the day.
