WISBECH Town boss Steve Appleby has refused to “close any doors” on the possibility of re-signing Paul Cousins.
Cousins has been released by King’s Lynn Town - just months after he left the Fenmen to join their fierce rivals - following an alleged affair with his team-mate Robbie Harris’ wife.
And the Wisbech boss admitted he’d take “everything into consideration” once his former captain decides where his footballing future lies.
Appleby said: “I don’t know if Paul would come back - or whether I’d definitely want him back - but I’m not going to close any doors on him returning.
“If it feels right I won’t be afraid to make what could be an unpopular, or a very popular decision, amongst our supporters. It’s all up in the air for now.
“Paul’s a good friend but I’m sure we won’t be the only club talking to him because he’s a great football player.
“Whatever happens - all things considered - I’ll do what I think is best for Wisbech Town Football Club.”
Goals from Callum Reed, Matt Lunn, Neal Spafford and Lewis Thompson helped the Fenmen beat Hadleigh United 4-1 in the league on Saturday.
Reed and striker Liam Nimmo will miss the weekend’s tough Ridgeons Premier Division clash at Gorleston.
