New recruit Jack Hargreaves was the star of the show as Wisbech Town blew away Foxton with a comprehensive 184-run win on the first day of the Tucker Gardner Division One campaign.

Hosts Wisbech amassed 230 - including Australian Hargreaves’ impressive knock of 51 and 40 from Jamie Gollands - for eight wickets on Saturday, with visitors Foxton only able to chalk up 84 runs before being bowled out after 21.5 overs.

Silas Mutubaki carried his excellent form from last season over with a five-wicket haul, with Gary Freear also impressing with the ball and taking three wickets.

Sam Rippington got Wisbech’s fielding session off to the perfect start when he bowled Foxton’s Cei Sanderson for a golden duck, and Paul Edgeller trapped Lawrence Farnum on a successful afternoon for Sam Albutt’s men.

Wisbech will hope to add to their winning start on Saturday when they take on Burwell CC at Mingay Park.
