Wisbech Town continued their impressive form in the Tucker Gardner Division One with a 184-run success over title favourites, Saffron Walden.
On a rainy afternoon in Wisbech, superb batting from opening pair Sam Albutt and Danny Haynes and strong bowling from Paul Edgellar helped the hosts move to second in the league standings.
Captain Albutt’s 74 off 75 balls, and Haynes’ 78 kick-started Wisbech’s innings, with 40 from Josh Bowers taking them to 287-6 after 50 overs.
Saffron Walden’s time at the crease was hampered due to the weather, and the visitors were given a revised target of 155 off 26.5 overs.
However, Edgellar’s form with the ball continued, with the bowler restricting the Essex side to 133, taking 3-21 in the process.
Wisbech will hope to carry their impressive form into their next fixture with Godmanchester Town.
Elsewhere, Wisbech Town 2nds were 98-run victors over Abington in their CCA Senior Division One encounter.
