Wisbech St Mary have been used to reaching club milestones in recent years – but boss Arran Duke wants his players to make yet more history tomorrow afternoon.

The Saints, who were out of action last weekend, host Thurlow Nunn First Division rivals Norwich CBS in the second round of the FA Vase.

St Mary’s foray into the second round is the furthest the club has progressed in its 24-year history, and Duke wants his players to produce a result worthy of the occasion.

“Everyone at the club is looking forward to this fixture. It’s another milestone for the club and it’s a testament to all those who have been involved over the years, getting the club to where we are today.

“We’d like to see a good crowd at the game and hopefully we can reach another milestone for the club.”

Tomorrow’s knockout clash will also act as a chance for the Saints to get revenge on a side that has enjoyed taking on the Fenland side this season.

Norwich won 4-2 at the ABC Meats Stadium on October 6 before beating Duke’s side 3-1 in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago.

“It’s an exciting time for the club and we want to progress. We have been beaten by them twice this season but tomorrow is a different challenge and one I’m sure they will be up for,” Duke said.

“We have a pretty much full squad available but there are injury doubts over Jack Mockford, Bradley Baker and Adam Wright.”

Elsewhere, Wisbech St Mary Reserves will be hoping to get back to winning ways after exiting the Cliff Bullen Challenge Cup last weekend.

The Saints’ second-string were beaten 4-1 by Ely City Reserves, with Stuart Beckett netting the only goal for St Mary.

They return to Kershaw Senior B Division action tomorrow with a trip to Lakenheath Reserves, who sit five places below them in the standings. A win could send the Saints into third.
